Mimecast URL Protection
Targeted Threat Protection - URL Protect re-writes all URLs embedded in an email, including those in .TXT and .HTML attachments, and performs a layered security check on the destination site when a user clicks on the link. When a user clicks on a link, what happens depends on whether the link is considered safe. If the link is considered safe, the user is redirected to the original destination without manual intervention. If the link is considered unsafe, what happens depends on the configuration defined by your administrator. If the administrator has configured the account to block unsafe URLs when they are detected, users are not taken to the URL's destination. Instead, they receive a notification in the browser. The threat is displayed, but users have no option but to close the browser window. They can click on the Click Here for More Information link in the dialog to display details of why the link was considered unsafe. If the administrator has configured their account to warn users when an unsafe link is detected, the user is not taken to the original destination. Instead, they receive the following notification in their browser, allowing them to choose whether it is safe to proceed: The threat is displayed, but users have the option but to click on the Continue to Page button. They can also click on the Click Here for More Information link in the dialog to display details of why the link was considered unsafe.

Mimecast Attachment Protection
Mimecast email security system automatically converts Word (.doc & .docx) attachments to PDF and Excel (.xls & .xlsx) attachments to CSV when received from external emails. How will you know? In your email message, you will see an attached message that reads “Mimecast Attachment Protection Instructions” as shown in the screenshot below. Double click on that message to open it, then click on Request Files or Request and Trust (details of what they mean in the screenshot below) Then wait a few minutes and you’ll receive the original document in the original format. Please note that if someone forwards you attachments from a contact that's outside Nine's organization they need to follow these steps in order to get the original documents, and to trust the senders.

Mimecast Outlook Plugin
Mimecast for Outlook Overview Mimecast for Outlook allows users to gain real time access to their Mimecast services from inside Outlook using the Mimecast ribbons (see below). This includes the ability to search for messages and files in their personal archive, even though these may no longer be available on your email server. During a planned or unplanned mail server outage, you can also continue to send and receive messages. Mimecast Online Inbox/Held Items
Mimecast is an Email security service that provides advanced protection against threats. All emails pass through this securty service before reaching you outlook inbox. To view any emails that have yet to arrive to your outlook inbox Follow the instructions below Go to the Mimecast tab Select the following menu item: Online Inbox A page opens listing the items sent or received over the last 30 days. Note: By default, the last 25 messages are displayed in reverse date order, with the most recently received email displayed first. To access more messages, scroll to the bottom of the list and more items will be retrieved. To preview the email, simply click on it. From the message preview you can Reply, Reply All and Forward the email. There will be times where mimecast will withold an email if it deems the email suspicious. Messages can be released or rejected either individually or in bulk. You can also block addresses or domains when messages are released or rejected. Images are not automatically displayed for held messages. You can choose to download the images for each message, after considering the security risk of doing so. We have policies in place that place messages on hold. These could be based on spam, attachment, or content examination policies, designed to prevent unwanted emails from reaching your Inbox. The Personal On Hold viewer allows you to view the emails that have been held, and decide if you want to release them or reject them. If you do not release or reject a message from the Hold queue within 14 days, it is automatically removed. You will still be able to retrieve the email from the archive, if this is configured by your Administrator. Rejecting a Message To reject a message: Click on the Mimecast Tab. Select On Hold Messages from the menu. Filter the list of messages by Subject, To, From or Reason. Select one or more message. Select the Reject icon and select one of the following desired actions: Menu option Results Reject Email The message is removed from the viewer. The sender isn't notified. Future emails from this sender may be held. Reject Email & Block Sender The message is removed from the viewer. The sender isn't notified. A Blocked Senders Policy is created for the sender's email address, meaning they are unable to send you messages in future. Reject Email & Block Domain The message is removed from the viewer. The sender isn't notified. A Blocked Senders Policy is created for their domain, meaning any sender from the domain is unable to send you messages in future. Releasing a Message To release a message: Click on the Mimecast Tab. Select On Hold Messages from the menu. Filter the list of messages by Subject, To, From or Reason. Select one or more message. Click on the Release icon and select one of the following desired actions: Menu option Description Release Email The email is removed from the viewer and is delivered to your Inbox. Future emails from the sender may be Held. Release Email & Permit Address The message is removed from the viewer and is delivered to your Inbox. A Permitted Senders Policy is created for the sender's email address, meaning future messages from the sender are delivered straight to your Inbox. Release Email & Permit Domain The message is removed from the viewer and is delivered to your Inbox. A Permitted Senders Policy is created for the sender's domain, meaning future messages from it are delivered straight to your Inbox.
